The Amazing Rick Maisel

Rick Maisel has been performing professionally since the age of eight (1966). In the late 1960's, Rick studied from magicians, Dai Vemon, Slydini, AI Goshman, etc. and began advertising in the Yellow Pages at the age of ten.

Recently, he performed 225 shows, two shows per day, six days per week, for "Ripley's Believe it or Not!" Live Broadway Revue, in Branson, Missouri, at the Osmond Family Theatre. Maisel has performed special performances for countless corporate shows, half-time sports shows, cruise ships and grand openings, worldwide. For the Millennium, Rick Maisel was hired by the City of Albuquerque, to be the first human "ball" dropped at midnight, from a crane over 100 feet tall, after escaping from a strait jacket, on the way up (which was timed to the tenth of a second).

Besides Rick Maisel holding the Guiness World Record for the upside-down straitjacket escape since 1996 (2.23 seconds), he also holds the distinction of being the ONLY person ever authorized by the United States Federal Aviation Authority to perform escapes, without safety-lines, while hanging upside- down, beneath hot-air balloons and helicopters, up to 30,000 feet.

Maisel is also the ONLY and first escape-artist to escape from an electrically arc-welded can, completely full of water, while Rick is handcuffed. And...Rick Maisel's "Tank of Death" is the ONLY under- water tank which allows the audience to view the escape without a curtain. Rick's version of Houdini's Chinese Torture Tank has been specially designed to travel around the world. Besides holding up to four hundred gallons of water and having a height of seven feet, the tank is specially made, with a massive "0-ring" and "clamp system", so that it can be dismantled into two, three-and-one-half feet sections for transport (worldwide).

The most famous and "original" escape, is the "Washing Machine Escape™", invented, created, performed by Rick Maisel in 1983, for TV's "That's Incredible". Since then, Rick Maisel is the only person in the world to perform this escape. With the "full" amount of "water and soap", surviving without serious injury or death, spinning at about 60 rpm's. Escaping before the machine goes into the deadly spin cycle.
